Digital workplace and digital transformation : what are the challenges for companies ?

Lockdown has led many companies to adapt their way of working, thus favouring the explosion of remote working. In this respect, a recent survey conducted by Odoxa, showed that, during the lockdown, 24% of French workers switched to teleworking. Since September, this figure has dropped to 14%. These percentages are partly explained by the digital transformation. This issue has made the digitalisation of work imperative. However, not all organisations are at the same level of digital maturity, which disrupts their transformation when it is no longer ‘required’ by containment. However, this way of working tends to be permanent and, in fact, companies must continue to adapt: between issues, risks and challenges, the digital transformation brings its share of questions. Some tools, such as the digital workplace, provide an initial response. These digital platforms promote remote working by centralising a whole range of practical and secure functions to ensure the continuity of its activity and the proper management of its teams.

2020 has seen the advent of teleworking. Faced with lockdown, companies have been forced to adapt to health regulations: in order to maintain their activity, all have embraced the digital shift. Remote working has logically become the norm. But due to the lack of preparation, resources, knowledge and tools, several questions have arisen, especially from a security point of view.

Remote exchanges, the use of the cloud and new digital tools are synonymous with the massive distribution of important data. Faced with the risks of piracy and information stealing, it is important to find solutions. A study by the Harvard Business Review Analytic Services shows that 73% of the world’s top executives are considering implementing a company-wide cybersecurity strategy.

A new stage : after digitalisation, it’s time for security

With each period of adaptation giving rise to a few latencies, the race to digitalise services, uses and processes has now given way to a need for security. The first few months of containment allowed companies to survive by adapting, but today, this “precarious” model must be perpetuated and companies must protect their sensitive content. For example, the cybermalveillance.gouv.fr platform, which helps companies defend themselves against cyber attacks, has confirmed that since March, traffic on its site has increased by almost 400%.

If information is stolen, the company’s image and credibility may suffer and, in the long run, its competitiveness: how can you trust a company that has not been able to protect itself ? In order to avoid this, a company must turn to technological tools that allow it to ensure the security of its data, but also of its processes in order to maintain its activity, even when working from home.

The digital workplace: responding to the need for remote working

Remote working habits included in the digital workplace

The digital workplace allows employees to have access to a secure working environment. It is practical and contains a range of functions that help to keep a company running. They also centralise the applications necessary for the proper management of one’s day-to-day activities: videoconferencing, instantaneous discussions, secure document exchange, project management, everything is designed to guarantee the proper management of one’s activity. But digital work environments have other advantages, such as providing a certain flexibility. Indeed, the digital workplace is accessible to everyone who is entitled to it, at any time, from anywhere.

Digital workplace : a response in line with your security requirements

Use of a public Internet network, use of a personal computer, weekly or daily mobility, unencrypted exchanges : the possibilities of having one’s information hacked or stolen are greater when teleworking. This finding is corroborated by a study conducted by the University of Maryland, USA, which states that a cyber attack occurs every 39 seconds worldwide !

The digital workplace not only ensures that the business is maintained, but also enables exchanges to take place within a secure digital space. Indeed, the established functionalities and protocols favour the transmission of sensitive data and information, while reducing the risks of theft and hacking. Hosted in France or within the european Union, these tools also ensure the sovereignty of the data as well as the confidentiality of the exchanges between the actors.

Security and digital transition : why turn to certified technologies ?

While some American publishers are facing numerous legal complexities such as the Cloud Act, or the revocation of the Privacy Shield in the summer of 2020, French solutions are full of promise and benefit from an optimal legal framework. Turning to certified technologies provides the assurance that the tool used meets certain security requirements. The French companies promoting certification respect standards validated by French bodies, within the European legal framework. On our territory, the National Agency for Information Systems Security (ANSSI) analyses the vulnerability of service providers and issues these certifications validating their compliance. The ANSSI thus promotes reliable and perfectly secure solutions.

Oodrive and its application suite : managing the entire life cycle of its documents

Faced with the growing need for digital security, Oodrive has developed is own platform, a modular application suite whose objective is to ensure data security and guarantee the confidentiality of documents and exchanges. It meets the standards imposed by certain qualifications and certifications bodies (SecNumCloud, eIDAS, RGS***, ISO 27001:2013 and HDS) with the aim of providing users with true confidence. A solution in the form of a digital work environment, enabling the organisation and management of remote working projects, which is divided into 5 application modules :

While the need for dematerialisation of workspaces has increased considerably during the health crisis, oodrive presents itself as a trusted partner and its digital platform as a perfectly adapted and secure solution.
